Non Fungible Tokens(NFT'S) and How They are Disrupting Real Art

Non-fungible tokens, or NFTs, are a new form of digital collectibles that can be bought, sold or traded on the blockchain. They are different than cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin because they are not divisible and cannot be used as currency.

NFTs can represent ownership of any digital asset that is unique and cannot be replicated. These assets may include virtual currencies, game items, shares in companies or even real world assets like artwork.

So you buy a digital artwork as an NFT, and then what? Well, you can use it as your new desktop background or display it on your TV. Seems kind of boring. What exactly do you own ? Nothing physical or tangible.

What about investment/resale? Of course, if the artist is already famous, or becomes famous, NFTs can be thought of as an investment.

The digital age has opened up a world of possibilities in the realm of art. Artists are no longer limited to paint brushes, canvases and watercolors. They can create their work with a pen, tablet or computer program. This is thought to be the future of art since anyone anywhere can create with just a few clicks of their mouse or taps on their phone screen. Many digital artists can produce multiple variations of the work, even leveraging on AI and machine learning to automatically produce digital artworks. Doesn't seem very special does it?
